Daquise Montgomery – Empowerment Expert

Daquise Montgomery is one of our newest Empowering Differences experts. With a background in HR & DEI, she is partnering with Empowering Differences to drive community impact through empowerment initiatives.

Daquise Montgomery currently serves as the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources at M&T Bankย in the Greater Washington DC Area.ย Initiating her career in banking in 2011, Daquise has cultivated a wealth of expertise and progressiveย growth in various domains, including Human Resources, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Retail andย Business Banking, Leadership Development, and Training. She has a dedicated commitment toย fostering DEI, Leadership Development, Financial Literacy, and sustainability, impacting not just the localย community but extending her influence more widely. At M&T, she serves as the President of theย Greater Washington PRIDE Resource Group, National Co-Chair for PRIDE serving all the charters for theย bankโ€™s enterprise, Professional Development Chair for the African American Employee Resource Group,ย and leader on the DEI Connect Leadership team, as well as a mentor to multiple employees.ย 

Daquise has embraced multiple leadership and service roles throughout her tenure in her professional career, taking on responsibilities as a board of director, board member, volunteer, mentor,ย and chair across a variety of organizations. She currently serves as the President for the DC Equalityย Chamber Foundation, Membership Steering committee with Alexander Chamber of Commerce where she was a recipient of the 2023 40 under 40 class and a graduate of her Leadership Developmentย class of 2024, the DC Chamber of Commerce, and a board of director for Journey to Josiah, a nonprofitย organization, among others. Additionally, she extends her expertise to non-profit and commercialย enterprises alike.ย Hailing from Greenville, South Carolina, Daquise’s academic background includes studies in music fromย the SC Governorโ€™s School for the Arts and Humanities, Liberal Arts and Music at the Peabodyย Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, as well as Music and English at the University of Southย Carolina in Columbia. She is currently completing her masterโ€™s degree in human resource strategicย management, and is also gearing up to pursue a Doctor of Business Administration at Bellevueย University in the spring of 2024.ย Beyond her corporate role, Daquise is passionate about music, singing, a professional flutist with theย Capital City Symphony (DC) and Loudon Symphony Orchestra (VA), as well as imparting her musicalย knowledge as a flute instructor. Entrepreneurial in spirit, she has established a successful catering andย event planning business, alongside indulging in wardrobe styling. Daquise also finds pleasure in travelingย and remains actively involved in philanthropy and community service.
